This week is Walking Week in Manchester – a huge initiative to get people out of their cars and on foot in a bid to help everyone’s health.
Walks are taking place all over Manchester with over 100 free walks around the region helping to show off what Manchester has to offer. There are a total of 12 routes to choose from and walks are being organised all week up until Sunday.
Walking for just 20 minutes a day can add up to 7 years to your life, and supporters boast that it also reduces congestion and pollution in urban areas.
One event in Bolton includes a 2 hour walking trek over the hills around Horwich which will take in the Middlebrook trail as well as Jumbles Reservoir. No special equipment is needed and it’s totally free – so why not take your car over and get involved!
